Buck Knives is a 4th generation family-owned business located in Post Falls, Idaho. Our founder, Hoyt Buck, was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer, and his unique approach produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. In 1964, Buck became an industry leader with the revolutionary Model 110 Folding Hunter, and this drive for ingenuity and excellence is what has made Buck the successful knife maker it is today.
As CJ Buck, CEO and Chairman, emphasizes, "When your family name is on a product, you care a bit more about how well it works." This commitment to quality is evident in our best-selling knives, which are famous for their exceptional edge-holding capabilities.
The secret behind our knives' renowned edge retention lies in our meticulous approach to steel selection and heat treatment. We choose the right steel for the intended use of the knife, and then we heat-treat or temper each blade using our patented process. This ensures that the knife you buy is sharper out-of-the-box, holds an edge longer, and is easier to re-sharpen.
In addition to our dedication to craftsmanship, we also offer a Spa Service for Buck-branded knives. This service restores the factory edge on your knife and gives it a basic polish for a fee of $6.95 per knife.
Buck's reputation for holding an edge is unparalleled, thanks to our steel selections and heat treat process pioneered by industry legend, Paul Bos. Our knives are designed to withstand even the toughest conditions and stay sharp for an extended period, making them ideal for a variety of outdoor activities such as hunting, camping, bushcrafting, fishing, hiking, and overlanding.
The versatility of our knives is also noteworthy. The clip point blade is perfect for detail work and cutting in tight spaces, while the spey blade is ideal for skinning or sweeping knife strokes. The sheepsfoot blade, on the other hand, is suitable for making clean cuts, especially on a flat surface.
The 82 Trapper model, for instance, features two blades: a 2-5/8" clip blade and a 2-5/8" spey blade, both crafted from 420J2 stainless steel, which delivers excellent strength, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. With a closed length of 3-1/2" and a weight of 2.6 oz, this knife is a versatile and durable choice.
At Buck Knives, we stand behind the integrity of our products. Since 1902, we have offered a lifetime warranty on our knives, demonstrating our unwavering confidence in the quality and craftsmanship of our blades.
