Buck Knives is a 4th generation family-owned business located in Post Falls, Idaho. Our founder, Hoyt Buck, was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. His unique approach produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. In 1964, Buck became an industry leader with the revolutionary Model 110 Folding Hunter. This drive for ingenuity & excellence is what has made Buck the successful knife maker it is today, says CJ Buck, CEO & Chairman.
What makes Buck knives famous for holding their edge? We choose the right steel for the job, and then we heat-treat or temper each blade with our patented process to meet the demands of the intended use of the knife. The result is a knife that is sharper out-of-the-box, holds an edge longer, and is easier to re-sharpen.
For owners who want to keep their Buck knives in top condition, we offer a Spa Service. For a fee of $6.95 per knife, we can restore the factory edge and provide a basic polish, exclusively for Buck branded knives.
Buck's reputation for exceptional edge retention comes from our steel selections and heat treat process, pioneered by industry legend Paul Bos. This attention to detail is why Buck is a market leader in this critical performance area.
