Titanium-Coated Steel Blade Fishing Knife for Saltwater

A young blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck from Kansas was seeking a better method to temper steel and extend the edge retention of his knives. His unique approach led to the creation of the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt crafted each knife by hand, utilizing worn-out file blades as the raw material. His exceptional workmanship was highly valued during World War II.

A decade earlier, Hoyt's eldest son Al had relocated from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California after completing his stint in the navy. In 1945, Hoyt and his wife Daisy moved in with Al and his young family, and they established the business H.H. Buck and Son. Following Hoyt's passing, Al kept the burgeoning custom knife enterprise operational until incorporating it as Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961. Al introduced his son, Chuck, to the knife business at a young age, and both Chuck and his wife, Lori, were actively involved when the company was incorporated.

The knife industry experienced a revolution in 1964 with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, firmly establishing Buck Knives as a leader in the field - a position the company continues to proudly hold. Chuck advanced through the ranks, serving as President and CEO for many years before passing the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999. Chuck remained an active Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2015. Lori now serves on the Board of Directors and actively participates in Buck's promotional events across the United States, perpetuating Chuck's legacy.
