Buck Knives 117 Brahma Fixed Blade Hunting Knife

A Kansas-born blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck was seeking a better way to temper steel in order to ensure longer edge retention. His unique approach led to the creation of the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt handcrafted each knife, utilizing worn-out file blades as his raw material. His exceptional craftsmanship was highly valued during World War II.

Hoyt's eldest son, Al, had relocated from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California, a decade earlier after completing his stint in the navy. In 1945, Hoyt and his wife Daisy moved in with Al and his young family, establishing the business H.H. Buck and Son. Following Hoyt's passing, Al kept the fledgling custom knife business running until incorporating Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961. Al introduced his son, Chuck, to the knife business at an early age, and both Chuck and his wife, Lori, were involved when the company was incorporated.

The knife industry was revolutionized in 1964 with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, solidifying Buck Knives' position as a leader in the field - a position the company continues to hold with pride. Chuck worked his way up through the company, serving as President and CEO for many years before passing the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999. Chuck remained actively involved as the Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2015. Lori now serves on the Board of Directors and is actively engaged in Buck's promotional events throughout the United States, carrying on Chuck's legacy.

The 117 Brahma knife, known as the mini 119 Special, is designed with a classic styling inspired by Buck's early fixed-blade models. Its timeless design features a traditional guard and pommel, ensuring durability and reliability for a wide range of tasks.
